Two spectroscopies in one: interference of circular dichroism and Raman optical activity
20 January 2021
Raman optical activity (ROA) is a developing spectroscopic technique used for structural studies of chiral molecules. The research group of Petr Bouř from IOCB Prague analyzed an unusual ROA signal induced in solvents by chiral dyes.
Their publication linked this phenomenon to circular dichroism, and verified the theory by several experiments. The combination of circular dichroism and ROA was observed for solutions of Ni and Cu organometallic complexes.
