Accessibility statement

The Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (hereinafter "IOCB") is committed to ensuring accessibility of its website in compliance with Act No. 99/2019 Coll., on Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications and on the Amendment of Act No. 365/2000 Coll., on Information Systems of Public Administration and Amendments to Certain Other Acts, as amended, implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

This accessibility statement applies to the website www.uochb.cz, as well as the websites of individual research groups and facilities on third-level domains.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on October 1, 2024, based on an audit report conducted by a certified web accessibility expert (CPWA = Certified Professional in Web Accessibility). The assessment was carried out by Ondřej Pohl, CPWA, from the digital agency ACTUM Digital (a member of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals – IAAP).

The audit report, including specific non-compliance findings and recommendations, is available upon request at webmasterinvalid-email-name@invalid-email-domainuochb.cas.cz.

The audit was performed using a fully manual method, supplemented by partial use of automated tools for efficiency, followed by manual verification. Testing was also conducted with assistive technologies and on various devices. The audit methodology and scope selection were based on WCAG-EM.

Description of non-accessible content

The content below is not fully accessible due to non-compliance with the aforementioned legal regulations and standards.

  1. Some non-text content lacks textual alternatives or the provided alternatives do not meet their intended purpose.
  2. Audio materials do not include text transcripts.
  3. Certain videos lack captions, including podcast recordings.
  4. Videos do not include audio descriptions or text transcripts.
  5. The website contains videos sourced from external providers not financed, created, or controlled by the IOCB, as well as videos published before September 23, 2020. These videos are exempt from Act No. 99/2019 Coll. and are not required to include captions, audio descriptions, or text transcripts.
  6. Some pages contain unclear and confusing heading structures or lack proper grouping and labeling of control elements.
  7. The website uses color as the sole differentiator for certain elements, particularly text links.
  8. Textual information sometimes has insufficient contrast with its background.
  9. Non-textual information lacks sufficient contrast with surrounding colors.
  10. Certain interactive elements are not operable using only a keyboard, such as search suggestions and "hamburger navigation."
  11. The website does not support skipping repetitive content like main navigation or filters (where keyboard accessible).
  12. The site does not support resizing text to 200%, though it can be zoomed to this level.
  13. Some links lack clear identification of their purpose.
  14. Interactive elements lack visible keyboard focus (focus indication).
  15. Content differing from the primary language of the webpage lacks proper programmatic language definition.
  16. Placeholder text is used as the sole form of input field labeling.
  17. Certain interactive elements lack programmatic role definitions or fail to communicate the outcome of interactions.
  18. Many critical content changes are not announced to users.
  19. Criterion 9.4.1.1 (Parsing) is not met due to obsolescence and lack of impact on accessibility. It has been removed from WCAG 2.2. (According to W3C: “This criterion was originally adopted to address issues assistive technologies had when directly processing HTML language. Assistive technologies no longer need to directly parse HTML; therefore, these problems either no longer exist or are addressed by other criteria. This criterion is no longer useful and has been removed.”). An update to EN 301 549 is expected to reflect this change in the standard.

We are systematically addressing these issues to improve accessibility.
