Earlier this month, ELIXIR CZ celebrated its 10th anniversary – marking a decade of significant contributions to life science research in the Czech Republic. The event brought together numerous guests and offered a moment to reflect on the origins of ELIXIR CZ and to share plans for the years ahead.
Established in 2015 and coordinated by IOCB Prague, ELIXIR CZ connects 14 research organizations into a distributed infrastructure for bioinformatics. As part of the European infrastructure ELIXIR, it provides access to vast biological datasets, analytical tools, and computational resources, reinforcing the Czech Republic’s role in European research and innovation.

Over the past ten years, ELIXIR CZ has developed into a key national node of the European research infrastructure for life science data. During this time, it has built a comprehensive ecosystem of tools and services for data collection, storage, analysis, and sharing in biology and medicine. Alongside building infrastructure, ELIXIR CZ has established a strong network of research and application partners. Through this sustained development, it has become an important foundation for data-driven research, education, and innovation.
In the years ahead, ELIXIR CZ will focus on deeper integration of AI tools, stronger collaboration within Europe, and practical support for open science. By enabling data-driven innovation and international exchange, it will help researchers tackle challenges in health, sustainability, and other key areas.
The celebration concluded with a toast and lively discussions among all stakeholders, marking a decade of achievements and collaboration in life sciences.
