This invited cover in Chemistry—A European Journal represents research led by Eliška Procházková from IOCB Prague and Ondřej Baszczyňski from Charles University.
The scientists developed phosphorus-based self-immolative (SI) linkers, which are candidates for double-cargo delivery systems. Photoactivated molecules can release two different phenolic cargos sequentially in an adjustable time scale.
The scientists studied the behavior of a new class of linkers using 31P NMR. The knowledge of phosphorus reactivity and stability is useful for understanding more complex delivery systems. The novel SI linkers can play an important role in designing drug delivery strategies or developing new innovative materials.
